Every September Margate’s annual Fall Funfest By The Bay, brings fresh and exciting family friendly venues. Thousands of visitors attend Margate Fall Funfest to enjoy over 125 booths and activities; a true celebration of the season, the beautiful bayfront, and the friendly spirit of the people of Margate!
Funfest is loaded with new entertainment and activities including music, games, back-bay nature tours and educational exhibits. NEW this year is a Saturday, Cornhole Tournament with prizes and open to all ages.
Register online at margatehasmore.com or day of on Washington Ave. at 12:30 pm, tournament begins at 1pm. The event is hosted by Colmar True Value Home Center with music provided by 95.1 WAYV! Sunday is free Cornhole recreational play.
Vendors from throughout the region will be offering savory food and unique crafts. The area’s represented bars and restaurants will be alive with visitors. A dozen musical bands will be featured on the main stage, playing everything from rock, to country, to reggae. The fun kicks off on Saturday, from 11 am- 6 pm and continues through Sunday from 11am-5pm, along Amherst Avenue, between Decatur and Coolidge Avenues. Free jitney shuttle service is available all along Ventnor and Amherst Avenues and from the free parking lot at the Eugene Tighe School on 7804 Amherst Avenue. Just look for the FREE FUNFEST JITNEY sign in the jitney window.
On Sunday, visitors can enjoy Steve and Cookie’s Annual Dog Show featuring best dressed dogs and other special categories! Register on-line @ Eventbrite or 11:30-12:30 on site at Steve & Cookie’s before the show.
Ray Scott’s Dock “Wetland Wonderland” will be hosting a myriad of NEW activities including goats from, Angles in the Pines Goat Farm, the Marine Mammal Stranding Center exhibit, turtle release, DJ Crazy Train, The Turtle Experience songs and facts about turtles, South Jersey Surfrider Foundation, local wildlife artists, Jeff Quicksall and Barry Winakur, and spectacular back-bay eco kayak tours. Crafts from over 65 juried artisans offering a wide variety of handmade crafts including; pottery, photography, fall décor, culinary artisans, handmade candles, soaps, and unique jewelry will be at Funfest. New artisans this year include Health & Sole / Francis Metal Works metal and stone sculptures, Spaney’s Candles handmade scented candles in jars, HomeFields / Pip’s Parks three-dimensional pro football stadiums and baseball ballparks, Creative Moments shore line designed ornaments and Christmas trees made of driftwood.
Visitors will enjoy shopping at local businesses Sunset Outpost, Heritage Surf Shop, MarieElena, Colmar True Value Home Center, Lilly, Steelfin plus others.
A featured entertainer this year on the 95.1 WAYV Kid’s Stage will be Magician Joe Holiday, performing his jaw dropping show with comedy, audience participation and magic. This year’s attractions will include special guests, Miss New Jersey Jade Glab and from the upcoming 2020 Philadelphia Mummers Parade we have Jersey String Band Captain Pat Walton. There will be a character’s parade, autographs and pictures with Snow White, Woody, Chewbacca, Buzz Lightyear and Superhero Minion. All of this will be in addition to children’s gymnastics and yoga demonstrations, games, giveaways and more.

Funfest After Dark – Saturday night features live Music by Mas Tequila Orchestra, dancing, wine and spirits tasting. Funfest After Dark; Definitely Not For Kids, will continue the weekend’s fun into the night of the 21, from 8pm to 11pm. Funfest After Dark is a special adults-only event with free live music by the Mas Tequila Orchestra https://www.mastequilaorchestra.com/ and NEW this year is the Tito’s Airstream Activation! Tickets for the tasting are $20 and are on sale at the event. A portion of the proceeds benefits the Margate Business Association.

Margate City incorporated as the borough of South Atlantic City by an Act of the New Jersey Legislature on September 7, 1885, from portions of Egg Harbor Township. Then, it was reincorporated with the name Margate City April 20, 1909. The city stretches approximately eight blocks from the Atlantic Ocean to the bay at most points in town and is roughly 2 miles long. Margate’s full-time population was estimated in 2007 at more than 8,500, less than 4,000 households and approximately 2,300 families.
