Atlantic City is home to many fantastic eateries, entertainment venues and my favorite spot, the AC Outlet stores! BUT, in recent times, I have been afraid to go! Increased, unprovoked gun violence and crime is evident in the resort city. Now the city is stepping up to the plate by announcing the installation of 1,000 state-of-the-art cameras. The price tag: The city will utilize $5 million in supplemental aid. City officials are hoping to enhance public safety, reduce crime and provide an increased emergency response. Atlantic City is one of the first cities to use cameras that utilize artificial intelligence. The cameras will be installed at more than 200 locations throughout the city and offer up 360-degree monitoring views and up to 40x optical zoom and pan-tilt capabilities. "The analytics capabilities on these cameras are far above the rest", Atlantic City Technology Director Patrick Quinlan said. "The city wide camera program will make Atlantic City one of the safest cities in all of New Jersey."
